ok....gfxdeziqnR....you are a complete dumb ass. NOBODY CONTROLS SOMEONE ELSES ARMY.. they work in unison and suggest to one another when and why they should do what needs to be done. THE UK WILL NEVER HAVE FULL CONTROL OF AMERICAN FORCES....EVER...that is like saying the QUEEN still runs England, cus we all know thats bullshit. PLUS the American Army does not do half as much as the Marines, and are the marines under UK control..NO.. NOW I dont mean ANY disrespect to the Army because they do do a lot and I respect any person that serves their country because I myself will be doing so in a couple of years.

I'm not going to argue but the u.s military is about 5 times better then UK's army. We have Navy seals, Army rangers, Special forces and more. These guys are the best of the best. My father was an army ranger. Only a total of 4,000 Army rangers have died in to history of the u.s army compared to other armys where they have over 500,000 deaths. Our military has a confirmed kill count of 857,000 in iraq and afghanistan since 2001 and about 1.2 million of their forces have died by other militarys such a british and french forces.

Also, the US are not the best of the best, they have a large amount of armed soldiers and good training but the US Army is NOT the single best Army.

not looking for an argument but neither of us are better than the other though tbh the force we give out is given by the US & UK army bouncing off eachother (working together) to make it easier for our own countries, without eachother we would be a standard army, we both train our soldiers similar the discipline is similar : all in all we are virtually the same (you have more personnel - thats the difference) but look at the size of the US

I'm actually from Canada, not the US, it says so in my motto. The difference is pretty huge, and while the US and Britain work together, the US still fundementally has the bigger army.

That is the most stupid comment I have heard today on this site. Look, this isn't WW1, Britain is no longer a superpower, many of it's colonies have become independent, and it's military rank has decreased. The US has the biggest military in the world. They spend the most, and have the most personnel.

Actually, this is not completely true. America does not have the largest Army in the world, although they have a mass amount of Armed soldiers, China have a larger number of troops. America does however spend the most on Weaponry and have the most Weapons out of any other country.

OP: Your brother's a very brave man, I am grateful for what he is doing, I am British but he is still a great man for doing what he is doing.

Have to sort this though- I can guarantee that not all British are is ignorant as the other kid's who think we have the best army. We don't, before the first World War, the British(us) would take over smaller countries like parts of Africa etc.. and had the single largest and best army around until b!ack people(not being racist) started to get more rights and what we were doing was considered slavery so was given up on. Now, the British army is the BRITISH army, not a bunch of others too, we are allies with the US though and these arguments are basically pointless especially when most of you don't have facts to back up your statements. China have the largest military force in the world and most of their soldiers actually are trained, the Chinese government is very strict and I believe soldiers there must pass certain tests before they can join. The US have definitely got the most Weaponry, a hell of a lot more than any other country does and have enough soldiers to use all of these weapons but I don;t think they're the strongest, they could be but I am not certain, if the US army is not the strongest then they are definitely very close to it. The UK, however do have a good Navy, they used to have the best Navy, around WW2 time but I can not be sure if they still have as good a Navy as I don't really keep very up to date with this stuff.

I ask of you all to please stop getting into arguments though and just understand that this guy's brother is an amazing, brave man and I am sure we all wish him luck and hope he come's home alive and well.
