It didn't for me. Just go on xbox.com and enter the code. I still have live after a week.

Yeah sometimes i have to restart the game to get a new one because it sometimes is difficult to desyfer the code

I think if you type the wrong code and then go back to it it gives you a different one and you dont have to exit the game.

No it doesn't it kicks you out of the game either way.
