So, I was disassembling my xbox360 case today to celean the inside, and I was curious if it was okay to just ditch the white plastic case altogether, and run it with just the metal box covering the motherboard, etc?. Or will it cause problems/issues?

I took off most of the stuff, the plastic, the metal casing, and the top of the disk drive, and it works better then ever. I have had it like this for 4 months.
