When you are able to do naval missions, you go to the harbor master and travel to cerros and that is where the "Lost Mayan Ruins" are, and the sword. Also it says that is where Capt. Kidd hid his treasure, which is the sawtooth sword. Once you collect the sword from the ruins you have to go to a shop to equip it.
