What Are Electoral College Votes

When you vote for a presidential candidate you are really voting to instruct the electors from your state to cast their votes for the same candidate. For example, if you vote for the Republican candidate, you are really voting for an elector who will be "pledged" to vote for the Republican candidate. The candidate who wins the popular vote in a state wins all the pledged votes of the state's electors.

The Electoral College system was established in Article II of the Constitution and amended by the 12th Amendment in 1804.

Each state gets a number of electors equal to its number of members in the U.S. House of Representatives plus one for each of its two U.S. Senators. The District of Columbia gets three electors. While state laws determine how electors are chosen, they are generally selected by the political party committees within the states.

Each elector gets one vote. Thus, a state with eight electors would cast eight votes. There are currently 538 electors and the votes of a majority of them -- 270 votes -- are required to be elected. Since Electoral College representation is based on congressional representation, states with larger populations get more Electoral College votes. See: Electoral Votes From Each State

Should none of the candidates win 270 electoral votes, the 12th Amendment kicks in and the election is decided by the House of Representatives. The combined representatives of each state get one vote and a simple majority of states is required to win. This has only happened twice. Presidents Thomas Jefferson in 1801 and John Quincy Adams in 1825 were elected by the House of Representatives.

While the state electors are "pledged" to vote for the candidate of the party that chose them, nothing in the Constitution requires them to do so. In rare instances, an elector will defect and not vote for his or her party's candidate. Such "faithless" votes rarely change the outcome of the election and laws of some states prohibit electors from casting them.

So we will all go vote on Tuesday, and before the sun sets in California at least one of the TV networks will have declared a winner. By midnight, one of the candidates will have probably claimed victory and some will have conceded defeat. But not until the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December, when the electors of the Electoral College meet in their state capitals and cast their votes will we really have a new president and vice president elect.

Why the delay between the general election and the Electoral College meetings? Back in the 1800s, it simply took that long to count the popular votes and for all the electors to travel to the state capitals. Today, the time is more likely to be used for settling any protests due to election code violations and for vote recounts.

What Is Obama Care

Answer: Obamacare is a name used by critics of President Obama's efforts to reform health care. It's a common term used to describe the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. Those who oppose the Act are concerned that it gives the Federal government too much control over personal health care decisions and benefits, forcing a "complex one-size-fits-all health system" onto the states. Those who are in favor of the Act want lower health care costs overall by making it affordable for more people.
Obamacare Pros

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office lists the advantages of Obamacare:
The Act was designed to reduce overall health care costs by making services available to the 32 million who currently can't get insurance. They often use a hospital emergency room as their primary care physician, increasing costs for everyone. This starts in 2014.
For people who can't afford health insurance, the Federal government will pay the states to add them to Medicaid. The income requirement is expanded up to 133% of the Federal poverty level - roughly $29,000 for a family of four.
Those who don't qualify for the expanded Medicaid will receive tax credits if their income is below 400% of the poverty level ($88,000 for a family of four). States will be required to set up insurance exchanges to make it easier to shop for private health insurance coverage.

What Is Obama's Plan For The US

President Obama refused to let the American auto industry die. He took a chance on Americans, and it paid off. More than 1 million jobs were saved, the U.S. auto industry is roaring back and adding jobs and all government loans were paid back ahead of time

U.S. manufacturing has added 479,000 jobs since January 2010the most growth in a decade.
Otherwise He Created Many More Jobs.

President Obama has a plan to bring jobs back to the U.S. by eliminating tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas, and creating incentives for businesses to 'bring jobs back to America.

President Obama passed Wall Street reform to make sure that Americans would never again have to pay to bail out big banks.

What Is Romney's Plan For The US
Mitt Romney will push for a fundamental redesign of our tax system. He
recognizes the need to simplify the system. He also recognizes the need both to
lower rates and to broaden the tax base so that taxation becomes an instrument
for promoting economic growth. As president, Romney will hold the line on
individual income tax rates and eliminate taxes on interest, dividends, and
capital gains for low- and middle-income taxpayers. He will eliminate the estate
tax. And he will pursue a conservative overhaul that applies lower and flatter
rates to a broader tax base.
Romney will also reform the corporate tax system. He will immediately lower
the corporate income tax rate, and then explore opportunities to further lower
the marginal rate while broadening the tax base. He will also begin the process
of transitioning to a territorial corporate tax system. A territorial system must be
designed to encourage multinational companies to bring their profits back into
the U.S. and it must avoid the creation of incentives for outsourcing.
Mitt Romney will act swiftly to tear down the vast edifice of regulations the
Obama Administration has imposed on the economy. He will also seek to make
structural changes to the federal bureaucracy that ensure economic growth
remains front and center when regulatory decisions are made. As president,
Romney will work to repeal laws like Obamacare and Dodd-Frank that have
given bureaucrats unprecedented discretion to craft unpredictable, job-killing
regulations by the thousands of pages.
Romney will also initiate the immediate review of all Obama-era regulations with
the goal of eliminating any that unduly burden the economy and job creation.
And he will impose a regulatory cap on all agencies at zero dollars, meaning
that an agency issuing a new regulation must go through a budget-like process
and identify offsetting cost reductions from the existing regulatory burden.
Other initiatives in a Romney Administration will include a new, cost-conscious
approach to environmental regulation; an increased role for Congress in the
approval of new regulations; and reforms to the legal liability system.

When Will The 2012 President Be Decided!

Iowa voters have until 9 p.m. to cast their Election 2012 ballots, but voting in other key swing states ends as much as three hours before then, and exit polling could provide an early indication of whether President Obama or Mitt Romney wins the White House.

The earliest key state to watch for is Virginia, where polls close at 6 p.m. Iowa time.

Voting ends 30 minutes later in swing states Ohio and North Carolina. At 7 p.m. swing states Florida, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire close their polls.

Nevada, the final swing state that could prove as pivotal as Iowa, also closes its voting at 9 p.m.

But Many People predict that they may not decide the president tonight. The Reason why is, because this race is so close it can not be counted in one night.
