Minnesota_Nice wrote By the way it's still pronounced "Christmas" even though it's spelled "X-mas" it's just an abbreviation.
I know that but I think it should be spelled christmas because of the meaning.

Rot wrote No, people have their own opinions. I find that it doesn't matter X-Mas or Christmas.
I completely understand where your coming from.

I'm an atheist but I celebrate christmas. Calling it x-mas has nothing to do with taking christ out of christmas - but really, who celebrates christ on 12/25 of every year? No one. It's all about family/giving/presents etc. etc.
The x comes from the greek letter 'Chi', which is the first letter of the Greek word Christos , translated as Christ.

Yes it's degrading, it's what atheist call it to avoid saying Christ.

Honestly, people can call it whatever they want just as they can be whatever religion they decide to be. it's up to them.

Not all of us believes in Jesus and or a religion at all.
so for the many of us that don't believe in that, that's pretty much all christmas is about.
I find myself more agnostic then anything, but if my parents want to celebrate christmas as a religious thing, I don't have a problem with that.
