Nobody owns the internet. I have as much of a right to enforce whatever rules I want as governments do.
Discuss.
EDIT: I see a lot of people viewing and deciding to click away.
Don't be afraid to share your opinion , whether you agree or disagree on the statement I would like to see all kinds of feedback , that's why I'm posting.

Kex wrote But no one will follow your rules.
So are you trying to say , the rules that are the most followed are the correct ones?
Also I'm not offering rules , I'm merely suggesting that governments should not decide the rules.
EDIT: After thinking more carefully about what you said.
This is all theoretical by the way.
You say nobody will follow rules if I created them , what if I start punishing people who do not follow them just as the government has done , eventually people will start to follow them but does that make them right? No.

That's an interesting way to look at it
But if everyone makes their own rules, noone can dictate how anyone else uses the internet bc that would (likely) interfere with that person(s) rule set, and then we are back to square one haha

You can make your own rules yes.
But rules are always broken.

Again , I'm not saying everyone should have their own rules or do as they like , I'm saying why should the government decide how the internet is run over somebody else?

Exactly. Very little point in a strict rule set to govern everybody, as it will be bypassed by anyone with the motivation to do so

This is true , but for example say you break one of the rules , what happens?
You are punished by the government. Is it fair that they do as they please?
