i had a pvr but then it burnt out so i sent it to hauppauge to get it fixed for free because i was told it was still under warranty but then 2 weeks later i got a call saying that it was gonna be $50 plus $15 for shipping to get it fixed. plus the elgato has the same if not better quality.

HD PVR is better. So I'd get one of them.

Elgato is a lot better. First of all its a lot smaller so it dosen't take up a lot of space. It doesn't use a lot of wires and doesn't need a power source. I think personally it looks better and has better color. There is more but that is the main ones.

I would say Elgato, my reason is because it has better quality, less cables required and with the software it comes with, if you forgot to click 'record' it captures it automatically so you just go on the timeline drag it back and then once you find it click record and you got it.
