Well title says it all. My comp was fine no static for awhile. Then recently (3months ago) I noticed some static in my headphones while nothing is playing or anything. Then when I record is sounds HORRIBLE like pffffffffshhhhfhfhhshshsh and it is so annoying! It isn't the USB plugins or the headset. Something inside my PC I think. Any help will be appreciated thanks!

Why not just lower the sensitivity for both the headset and mic or reset the settings?

Static remains the same whether the mic settings are lowered or raised.

Not the volumes, the sensitivity. And if after that, still nothing then my guess would be that it could just be a audio driver update you did recently automatically that made it go to crap. Try finding another driver which is compatible with your system and give that a go.

Try turning off the mic when you're not using, this should reduce static, but as to when you are using, just live with it.

right click the volume control icon in the windows tool bar by the clock, then click recording devices, then right click the mic device select properties, then in the top ribbon select Levels and then turn the Microphone Boost down to where you no longer hear any static when the mic is in use.
