my motherboard is a Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-880GM-USB3
and the cpu is a AMD FX-8120 Black Editon 8 Core 3.1GHz Socket AM3+ Zambezi 125W CPU,

Found this on the gigabyte site

To enable AM3+ AMD FX-Series CPU support, please update your motherboard with the most current BIOS found in your motherboards download section.

so seems like it will support it, just make sure you flash the correct BIOS or your motherboard could be bricked

Yes, that motherboard supports your CPU, just look at the sockets (AM3+)
