Hi the rest of my parts for my build have been ordered so I will be finishing my build very soon. Originally, I was going to use my wifi range extender which has ethernet ports so you can plug a computer in and broadcast it wirelessly, but I would rather have a wired connection. There are no ethernet ports in my basement but there are cable ports. I don't know much about networking and I am asking this. Would i be able to buy a modem and plug it into a cable port and then plug ethernet into that and into my computer? Would I be charged from my internet provider? If that doesn't work, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks a lot!

You could go buy a couple 50ft ethernet cords and the little connector part and then wire it all the way to your router. xP

Can't. My pc is in my basement and the router is in my dad's office; upstairs.
