The Mayans didn't take into account a leap year when they created their calendar which means that the date they predicted for the end of the world would have been weeks ago.

Please tell me where their calendar needed leap years. It's based on Baktuns which is 144,000 days. It has nothing to do with single years, which then and only then would require such knowledge.
