Do not use AMD in your computer, even if it pretends to have better price points.

Instead, get this combo:

Yes it would, but I would recommend a new motherboard. The 990FX motherboards are much better.

AMD processors are generally worse in quality and have lower price points, but any Intel CPU will beat them in desktop applications. The CPU you picked out is decent, but the i3 will be much better suited to your needs.

AMD can be a fine option, but it's a different beast and it's only a good choice if what you're doing plays to AMD's strengths.

The motherboard is very good with an 8-phase VRM and cooling for it, but if you're not getting a CPU heatsink, you're doing it wrong. These CPUs OC like beasts and you don't want to waste that potential. Pick up an [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] if you want to do it right. Also look at spending a little more for the [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .

Still, an i5-3450 and B75 motherboard might end up cheaper than that combo. AMD is not in a good position right now.
