So for Christmas I got a new GPU Fan+Heatsink, and while installing it I used a molex adapter cable that had 2, two pin fan connectors and my fans had 1, four pin connector, and 1, three pin connector. So I plugged both into the other two connectors, turned on my powersupply and started up my computer, but when I pressed the power-button there was a POP sound and a bit of smoke coming from the molex adapter cable so I quickly turned off the power supply and unplugged the molex cable. Later after I finished installing the GPU heatsink and installed everything into the case, but upon powering on my PC my CPU_LED lit up so I tried turning of my PSU and trying different CPU and MOBO power cables ( I have a modular PSU ) but the light was still on. I even tried a differnt PSU and the light was still on. So my question is, what's broken? I know something is messed up, either the MOBO or CPU, and I need to know what by something early tomorrow so I can contact Newegg and get an RMA. If there are any other details you need to know about my problem just PM me and I'll try to do my best to help you hep me.
UPDATE: Forgot to post this, but my MOBO does not pick-up anything like the HDD and GPU so even if I don't have them plugged in the LEDs for those stay off.
Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X EVO
CPU: AMD FX-8150 Not overclocked
