Haven't even heard of COMPAQ before and I've had some trouble with Toshiba's in the past. I would just go check out Lenovo's site for a laptop that suits your needs (I would recommend the ThinkPad T430 if it's in your price range).

I've heard of COMPAQ before, I used to own a compaq computer before I spilled coke in there then I built a PC, but anyway..
I would do what wowmanshark said, check out lenovo, but if you really wanna choose between just those two laptops, go with the Toshbia (Faster processor, more HDD space)
(My compaq computer was only 1 GHz.. just puttin that out there)

Out of those two, get the toshiba. Then put a 128GB SSD in it. It'll increase the performance of every day tasks big time.

The toshiba is the better of the two. Do what the person above me said, he is right but It'll cost you another 100-150 USD whatever that is in pounds.
