I just want to know because i want to try and avoid putting GPU chips that will die in a short amount of time back on the mother board. Or is there not way of telling ?

Um well not really unless you manually take it out and test it which isnt very accurate at all so i wouldn't mainly if it starts screwing up and not working as well as it should. Hope this helped man!

Most of the time you don't have to replace the GPU, just he solder balls underneath the chip. Don't get me wrong, but you still have to replace the chips in some situations. I don't know of a way to test if the GPU will last, I buy used ones off a seller off ebay and haven't had a problem with them.
