I was wondering what make s a motherboard good and what features do "better" motherboard have?

More expensive motherboards have more of everything like SATA ports, PCIE lanes, richer I/O, better overclocking since more power phases and heatsinks, etc. It's a lot of stuff that is not relevant to most people and will never be.
