as long as it says "Play GTA IV" on the dashboard it will work.

Youre wrong. It can bomb out at any time. As long as the scratch isnt too deep, you should be fine. I have plenty of disks with scratches and it shows the "Play ____" and errors out when its loading or randomly when Im playing.
