Morrowind had the last living Dwemer in it, but none have been in any other games since they are all gone from Nirn, as the lore says.

True but snow elves were also supposed to be extinct, they brought them into dawnguard. I think a dwemer related DLC that could even possibly even involve time travel would be insane and new. Becaus we know time travel is sorta possible using elder scrolls. I mean alduin was technicaly sent to the future.

The Dwemer were probably transported to another time or plane of existence by their head priest.

Technically the Falmer are snow elves, so they weren't extinct. They just revealed that some non-mutated snow elves still remained.

Based on the lore of the Dwemer culture they were more unlikely to have a head priest due to their deep belief in technology and their attempts to create their own gods from their technology. Also a quote from UESP:
"It appears all members of the Dwemer race were simply removed from the world. When the previously untouched Dwemer ruins of Bamz-Amschend in Mournhold were rediscovered, numerous piles of ashes were present next to weapons and armor, on chairs, and in beds, suggesting the Dwemers' bodies were suddenly reduced to ash in some way. In 4E 201, Arniel Gane, a researcher at the College of Winterhold in Skyrim, attempted to recreate the circumstances of the Dwemer's disappearance after obtaining Keening, one of Kagrenac's Tools, but vanished suddenly in the process, strengthening the theory that Kagrenac's use of the tools was the cause of the disappearance. Some scholars still resist the notion that the Dwemer disappeared all at once"

Is Arniel Gane the mage who says his work is very important but he can't tell you about it?
I've never pursued that questline, if you have, is it worth it?
