My friend and I were tossing around an idea/invention circling around the Xbox 360. It would be a modification of the current wifi adapters that plug in to the Xbox from the back, except that it wouldn't be for wifi, it would run off of 3G/4G.
So, I would like your all's opinion on:
A.) Do you think it could be done?
B.) Could it be used for online gaming? (without as much latency as possible)
C.) Do you think any company's would jump on this idea/modification and sponsor it?
The reason my friend and I came across this idea is because where I live there isn't Internet companies, so I'm currently on my phone, and we have 3G so I was wondering if it would be fast enough to support online play, or if you think it would work in general.
Thanks for your time, and if this wasn't the correct section for this topic, please close or move wherever or whenever you see fit staff.

It's not a terrible idea in the sense that one day, most likely, some form of cellular data could be used for gaming. However, you definitely don't need something to plug into the 360, you could just run a hotspot off of your phone. Also, 3G is far too slow to support gaming, and 4G is much better, but only good enough if you live in an area that offers a good cell phone connection and is very unpopulated in terms of density. You couldn't do it in a city. Obviously, to access these things (4G/3G) you would need some sort data plan with a company anyway, which you would have to pay for, so there isn't a need for a seperate device if you have a phone. It would be like inventing a router that plugs into an xbox 360, useless.

I don't think anyone would jump on unless you got the attention of it by big people in the Microsoft industry. You would have to go through all this stuff just to make it even possible to attempt to add it.
But you never know.

I haven't the slightest clue on how much bandwidth online gaming uses, but that seems like it might be your first problem with the majority of cellphone companies having a cap besides Sprint.

It could be done. I doubt it would happen though, they would have to increase the speed and increase the data cap.
You could though, it would take awhile.
Tether your phone to a computer, use that for internet. Use the vpn method to use your xbox through your laptop internet.
