AN Egyptian court has handed down death sentences for 21 people accused of taking part in soccer violence in 2012 that killed 74.
In the court room, families of the deceased wailed and raised their hands in the air shouting "Allahu Akbar", Arabic for "God is great".
The judge said in his statement read live on state TV that he would announce the verdict for the remaining 52 defendants on March 9.
Among those on trial are nine security officials.
The soccer melee on February 1, 2012 between Port Said's Al-Masry fans and Cairo's Al-Ahly fans was the world's deadliest soccer violence in 15 years.
As is customary in Egypt, the death sentences will be sent to a top religious authority, the Grand Mufti, for approval.

This is exactly the reason I will never move to, work, go on holiday to or even be kidnapped and taken to a third world country.
It's insane to think of how people are still buried with just their head poking out and stoned to death in public, simply barbaric.
At least have them shipped to a country where proper lethal injection can be undertaken.
And, just saying, but every Muslim should be feeling a little ashamed of their religion and it's people after reading this.

My God, when will these countries learn?
How can these scum complain about racism, stereotypes and drawings of their dear leader when they go shouting Allahu Akbar at someones death sentence.
It's vile, cretinous, gratuitous and highly ironic.
Those that laugh and cheer at the pain and suffering of others should not be granted a place in whatever paradise they believe in.
My misanthropy level just raised to boiling point towards countries like this, barbaric fools.
