That is true to an extent. Making laws that regulate who owns guns and what type of guns can be owned legally will make it a lot harder for criminals to get weapons. I don't think anyone will ever be in a predicament in which they would be better of having a semi-automatic rifle than a pistol.
A pistol is perfectly capable of protecting you. I'm not saying weapons should be banned by no means. I do think laws need to be made that makes it harder for people to get a weapon.
Every law that bans a gun, or makes it harder to get one will only make these criminal organizations more powerful.
How in the world would making something illegal make organizations more powerful?
That's like saying if alcohol were to be made illegal it would make companies like Budweiser more powerful.
Alcohol is a perfect example. If you know your history well you should know about the time US prohibited alcohol. A ring leader named Al Kapone took advantage of this time and had billions of dollars worth alcohol smuggled and sold. Because of this Al Kapone's Gang was one of the most deadliest in their time.
The situation now is gangs or criminal organizations will no doubt take advantage of this situation. Re-read what I wrote on the very start.
That was almost 100 years ago. The country is a lot different. Our government is a lot more capable now to stop things like that. I think billions of dollars is a bit of an exaggeration also. If you think the laws with guns we have right now are perfectly fine and you don't want to make any effort to prevent things like the Aurora and Sandy Hook shootings from happening I'm done arguing with you.
It makes me sick to my stomach to here the horrible things those people went through. The last thing I want to do is to read another news headline saying multiple American's were killed due to an idiot that got hold of a gun and killed innocent people.
Okay let's see the government stop the all the drugs immediately. More get's through than you think. Also I would love to see laws that make it harder for an idiot to get a gun. But lots of things get by. The reality is you can't really stop something likes this from happening but you can help prevent it.

Alcohol and guns are two different things. People can be addicted to Alcohol, Alcoholism. Its consumable. Guns are not.

Ban of Assault Rifles=No assault Rifles + A person who wants an assault rifle + A gang selling them = Money for the gang and Another weapon out there.

Guns don't kill people. If a guy driving a car runs over a kid, do you blame it on the car? no. If a guy stabs someone, is it the knife's fault? no.
Criminals dont follow laws so putting a law out to ban guns will make no difference in this nation.

The reason why gun crime rate is high is because of the "war on drugs". Legalize and regulate. If you want to stop mass/school shootings, universal background checks.
1. Brazil has the most gun related deaths in the world.
2. If you believe that crap then you should study up. And the Mexican cartels aren't the only ones.
3. I already said that. This loophole stuff does not supply the whole Mexican cartel, maybe a good 4%

Gangs do not make their own assault rifles. So if there would be a ban, they would need to get it from the Mexican cartels. Currently, the Mexican cartels are in war with each other. Why would they sell something they need? Cartels make most of their money from drug sells. Not gun sells, because they don't sell guns they buy them. As for assault rifles already in the U.S., the government would do a buy back. Meaning, gang members can go and sell their guns to the government. No questions asked.

Some of these statements I have already said. And believe it or not some do make their own. Cartels do a bit of both of supplying and using. Please research before you post this information. If your saying a gang or a cartel wouldn't put guns on the underground market your just plain ignorant.

WHAT I THINK
dude just today where i live in kansas a kid got shot by another kid,
And this shit is excelating fast and stupidly.
All of a sudden the shooting from Sandy Hooks Started a Epidemic.
Now everyone is putting a bad name to the right of baring arms, and to america.
I Think guns should not be able to be bought unless a background check is in action.
To many people are dying cause of some stupid ignorant bastards out there that is what I think.
