KingArty wrotei have lost count of how many different systems i have flashed new versions of BIOS on as well as modded and custom built images i have on a handful of occasions corrupted or flashed a incompatible version of Bios and had to jtag my board to reflash there are also some chips that will allow you to simply plug in and write to eh chip with out having to use the jtag method newer models even support emergency bios recovery that uses usb or dvd with a button combo being held while powering on that cause the media to write its self to bios so that you can reflash from a terminal. you can even replace the bios chip if nothing else works. UPS are a nice plus while flashing but they are not critical so long as the user takes some basic precautions..vokal wrote have you checked to make sure you are on the latest Bios update for your laptop? i had a HP laptop with a fan issue similar and after updating my 2 year old Bios not only did the fan and cooling issues go away but my computer ran faster and quieter. the battery just needs to be replaced they tend to go bad after a few years especially if you don't take care of them or they are subjected to certain environmental damages.Only do this with an Uninterruptable Power Supply (battery for your AC electronics) because once you lose power while flashing, your ROM will be dead and so will your computer too. I cannot express how dangerous this is for your computer (even with the UPS).
