For your first site, it isn't bad at-all, but as somebody said, if you could get vBulletin, or even myBB Forums, that would assist you a lot and you can use pre-made themes, just for quickness and simplicity.

Looks pretty good.
I would not recommend vBulletin as a starter forum hoster.
vBulletin can be very tricky to some users.
I would recommend starter with MyBB or IP.B.
If you would like any help setting forums up, please message me.

I don't know if just I feel this way, but I really don't think it looks good when the header is ever so slightly smaller in width than the main body of the page. I think that they should be the same width.

Other than this, it's a good looking site for something that you made quickly and simple. As long as the navigation is easy and the site does what it's meant to with ease, then good job.

As for people suggesting to use forum software, they are hugely complicated to customise exactly how you want, and unless you read the full documentation of them, you're only real options of customisation is downloading themes and skins that other people have created - which doesn't really make your website unique. However, if such software offers exactly what you need it to do, then by all means use them if you can.

I personally would have used MyBB or IPB to do most of the site itself. Maybe even Joomla. Is this gonna be your CMS and then have a stand alone forum? I can help you some, not a whole bunch.

I like how people make 2 divs with 1 image, and make a whole topic about it in the programming section  You want a medal? First make something that is worth showing, to me you are just an attention wh*re. It would take an average person 1 minute to remake your site.

Regardless of whether or not it's a milestone or achievement it's merely a post; the programming section is made around supporting and sharing your knowledge for programming, not to undermine other users. It sickens me to see people of whom believe they always have to outprove themselves, it isn't a competition and nobody cares. Please be supportive and grow up for the benefit of everyone in this forum. Also I think it's extremely hippicritical for you to call him an "attention wh*re"

Though keep up with the site I can see it coming along nicely, I would say go for a lighter background to avoid overpowering the main content but at the current stage there isn't really much else to criticise on.
