Expect-Originality wrote Scientists discovered a planet mid last year that has the same atmosphere as us (excluding the pollution in ours)

Whether or not it has life, we don't know.

Personally, I do not believe anything I hear in the media, news, radio that comes from: "scientists have discovered..."
I find it all to be b.s 100%. They can provide you with picture, a big worded article saying they think they know what they're talking about, graphs, diagrams, but if they have not seen it with their eye alone, or have been there, as I have not seen it with my own eyes or been there, then I believe it's ********. They try to get so advanced and technological that I think it's come to the point where it's all hypotheses, and not the truth. Take me there or show me it, and ill believe it. That goes for 95% of things as well.

So if you don't see it with your own eyes, it's not real?Silly logic.

Gravity, evolution, electromagnetism, cells, to name a few.

See it or experience it first hand. I don't see how you can tell the temperature of something that millions of miles away. It just doesn't make any sense. People say science, well then I guess I don't believe in science. Call me crazy, stupid, I personally don't care. It's my own opinion. You live your life the way you want, And I don't judge. Don't judge what others think.

That's fine, people hold incorrect opinions all the time. Just don't tell others to think the same way.

Incorrect opinion meaning mines wrong huh? Well get me proof, visual, physical proof, that all this planet and star bullshit is true, and then I'll say to you personally "I was wrong". Until then, keep your mouth shut.

Sorry for linking a website, I rarely do it, but instead of living in ignorance it would help to educate yourself on a topic before you dismiss it.

The wavelength of radiation given off gives clues about the temperature. For example, objects that are 'red hot' emit red light. Objects that are less hot emit radiation in the infrared region, which is longer wavelength and not visible to us. The sun's effective temperature is around 5778K, which we see as pretty much white light.

So there is two thoughts here.

Yes, the government knows of it but just won't tell us, cause the world would go crazy for a bit since that is sorta a lot to handle knowing there is other humans, that would be sweet though.

and two, yes there is we have just not found it yet, or it is right there infront of us but just to blind to see it...

"temperature is routinely measured by spectroscopy, for all sorts of objects near and far. in some cases, temperatures of extrasolar planets have been measured. however, in this case, it's not a measurement, it's a prediction based on the measured brightness of the star, the distance of the planet from the star, and some assumptions about the planet's albedo and greenhouse effect."

I have no idea wtf those big ass scientific words are.. but: "however, in this case, it's not a measurement, it's a prediction based on the measured brightness of the star" I prediction. A Hypothesis, what I was saying. And the brightness? I have a pretty bright light bulb in right now, I'm sure as hell I can't tell the temperature of it right now, and neither can you to yours. It's all predictions and hypotheses.

Wow, you must be really new to science... a hypothesis is not a guess, it's not a "wow that looks hot, it probably is", it's based on prior knowledge and observations.

Scientists aren't just like "Hey bill, check this sh*t out! This thing is really red! It's probably like 20 trillion degrees!!"

I don't understand the method to planetary science, because i'm not a planetologist - but I can assume they work just like any other branch of science, else it wouldn't be called science.

I believe in life on other planets, but not that they are duplicates. I think other universes could exist, though I am still iffy on if they are duplicates. There my be look-a-likes, but I doubt it would be duplicates of us. In order for us to have them, everything that has happened in our universe has to be dead on in theirs or we wouldn't be born in theirs. Little things affect everything.

It's quite possible considering we don't know what lies beyond our universe, or in fact the extent of our own universe.
