I've heard better things about the Elgato. But it's your money.

Elgato is the way to go. My friend has an Elgato and he just started recording 2 days ago, he sent me a gameplay and it is really HD and really clear to watch. But it's your choice.

The HD PVR comes with simple editing software and the elgato doesn't. So I'd say PVR unless you already have Sony Vegas
