This idea has always lingered on my mind, the thought of a World War 1 game, an FPS to be more precise.
The FPS industry in now in its 'Modern' stage and it has been through its 'World war 2' stage but it has never really had a 'World War 1' stage, this is probably because of the argument of 'Sit in a trench for 9 days, go over the top for 9 seconds, die and start again' idea, but it doesn't have to be like that, the gameplay can be optimized as much as you want but its a story that really makes a game in my opinion and a true, real and gripping story around world war 1 could make an amazing game and it won't just be the generic sitting in a trench, some amazing things happened that could be put into a game, take the christmas truce for example.

Please share your views and thoughts below and elaborate upon this idea of a 'world war 1' FPS or any genre for that matter, but FPS mainly ;)

The Cod engine wouldn't suit a world war 1 game, its too fast

I would prefer it if it was an rts like Rome: Total War, that would suit it, in my opinion.
