shadow1 wrote I dont see why near earth. An all mighty creator will probably will be in the center instead of near a couple of planets.

In the Bible, it says that humans were God's favorite creation. So that's why He would be so close to us.

Why would an atheist question if anything could be a god, let alone a big star. And if this is a serious question, then im sorry to break it to you, but I dont think a star is our all knowing being considering it isnt a live being and it dosent know anything.

God is said to be all knowing.
The sun is not a self-contained sentient being capable of thinking or withholding data.

God is said to be all powerful.
There are more powerful things than one sun in our solar system.

God is said to be 'Omniscient' or everywhere at once.
Using your definitions, WE are everywhere at once. Are WE god?

God is said to be all loving
Refer to point #1.

If you look at "The Sun" you will see a bright light and be forced to instantly look away making you unable to clearly see or analyse what the sun looks like from earth or what the sun is.
That's because our eyes aren't capable of withstanding the harsh solar rays of the sun for too long without getting eye damage. If God was "all-loving," he wouldn't hurt us if we tried to look at him; unless of course, he's a greasy 12 year old who is fat and ugly, and doesn't want to be seen, but I highly doubt that.

Theories are getting wilder lately.

GUYS
WHAT IF GOD
GUYS LISTEN
WHAT IF GOD WAS
THIS SLICE OF CAKE
IF WE LOOK AWAY HE'S STILL THERE SO HE'S OMNISCIENT
HE KNOWS WE WANT TO EAT HIM, SO HE KNOWS ALL
HE LOVES TO GIVE US DIABETES
IF I LOOK AT HIM TOO MUCH I GET CRAVINGS AND HAVE TO LOOK AWAY

Not trying to rain on your parade, OP, god may be out there, he may not be, but he definitely isn't the sun.

Omniscience is all knowing...

...and 'God' by definition is in all things, so yes, he would be the Sun.
Just everything else along with it.

I completely agree. Well said.

that question was asked before language was even created:why most civilizations started with solar deities before deifying animals and then women.IMHO science is merely the flipside of religion, because we can only understand/explain what is around us,whether we see it or not.everything else is hypothetical .with religion,(at least modern religion) its ALL hypothetical where there are no tools with which to measure the unknown, where faith comes in.our human tendancy to anthropomorphesize everything doesn't help either-why animals/plants&even the sun reflected our form/temperaments.science can and has been altered due to the persons biases/phobias.how else would we have phrenology or the DC current ?lol

Doesn't make sense. We're not in the centre of the universe, so it doesn't make sense for God to be focused around a few planets.

Why can't religion be supported by science?

tbyeah wrote If there was a god, it could be inside the sun for whatever bizarre reason. But there cannot be a god. As you said, by definition, a god is omnipotent (all powerful), omnibenevolent (all loving) and omniscient (all knowing). If all three of these are true, then it is impossible for suffering to exist on the world. Suffering exists in the world, therefore there is no god.

One word: Reincarnation.
