I chose AMD because I looked at benchmarks between the FX 8350 and the Intel i5 3570k. The FX 8350 beats it 9/10 in games I want to play. But ok I will change the case.

I have windows 7 and my computer boots up faster than my monitors turn on.
The boot up time with either OS's wouldn't be a difference if you have a quality SSD
You must have shitty ass monitors, mine take half a second to turn on.

Just need it to dual boot into win 7, or Ubuntu 12.X, depending if I am going just be running servers and coding, or defraging (if SSD needs it) in Ubuntu. Win 7 for gaming, so much more variety sadly on win 7
I'm sorry but why in the hell are you spending $500 on 64gb of RAM?

TylerTheMaster wrote Thanks for all the feedback, I'm still unsure which OS i want. They're supposed to be adding boot to desktop for windows 8 so that might be my choiceI highly recommend Windows 7 . Many games on windows 8 have trouble launching because some programs arent automatically downloaded such as DirectX, most of this is fixable but it adds some annoyance when you have to spend extra time hunting .dll's

Lucky getting an AMD Vishera, they are supposed to be awesome i want one. I'd say Windows 7 as its alright and Microsoft usually take a few months to iron out the creases on new OS's

We've recently discovered a new beast around here for threaded applications, the Xeon line-up. This will outperform the 8350 in nearly all tasks and won't have any trouble at full load 100% of the time. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
It might be $30 more, but with the parts that have already been improved, it should even out.
You'll also need a new motherboard. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
