The way they make a majority of their money is from trade-ins. They pretty much give you about half of what its worth (supposedly on its condition) and then resell from the average price of what the used version would be.
I have always chose gamestop though, all my encounters with the employees except once have been awesome. Pretty much all laid back chill gamers at my local one. Plus you get tons of benefits if you're part of their PowerUp Rewards Pro plan.
Pretty much whenever I have went there, I have never really expected to get a lot of in store credit...Oh and by the way if you just trade your item(s) in and get the cash instead of putting it in in store credit you will usually get about 10-25% less than if you had went with the instore credit.

Yes they are indeed a rip off and their sales have been increasing consistently over the past 8 years or so, but we'll see how they do when they can't resell games with these new systems

Yea they're a rip off, but its their way of making profits.
Thats why you sell them off eBay or wtv first. If no one buys then go to Gamestop if you want.

Sell your games on Ebay, you will get more money that way. Gamestop rips you off so they can make money

Of course. I'm able to sell games pretty fast (less than 2 days) on Kijiji, and I'm able to sell them for much, much better money when compared to Gamestop. So yes, Gamestop is a rip-off.

Better to sell online, people get the game for less, you get more money out of it.

In that sense yes but I usually just trade games with my friends to keep variety but not lose money
