Ok Im going to use Dutch as the language because it seems to be the language people think is cool. Ok these freshmen at my school think they are cool because they can speak "german" when they took DUTCH one. i do not get it. Im not sure how this works out but I'm almost positive that germany speaks german and countries like the netherlands and Belgium Aruba places like that spoke DUTCH. Im not sure what the difference between german and dutch is but there is obviously a difference. I hate how they think they know everything about Germany after taking one semester of DUTCH not even german, dutch. I find it annoying. I speak spanish and ASL and you dont see me acting like im a spanish ASL expert. It really gets to me.

Alot of border region schools require or want a foreign language class. For example, I live in Kansas. If I want to get into KU, I might want to take Spanish.
Still, people bragging about them being able to utter a few words of a foreign language is pointless.

Every school I've been to (several all in PA), has required another language.
I never could get into Spanish though. I used to draw pictures, I failed that class so many times. >.>

Never actually been to a school where people think it's "cool" to be bilingual.
Way back in 8th grade, french class was mandatory. Nobody actually payed any attention though, because the teacher was so chill and just let people horse around in class as long as they weren't disruptive to the people that actually cared. (which was like 4 people)
