im looking to upgrade my Nvidia 550 ti to a Nvidia 650 ti BOOST

and im wondering if there will be any issues with like compatability?

can anyone tell me if i there will or not please

my current computer specs are:

processor: AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor

motherboard: ASrock 960GM-GS3 FX

PSU: i think its 500v but im not too sure, i just had a look and there is a MASSIVE 500 on top of it so i assume its that

You will need to provide more information about the computer in question. The more useful information you give us, the better we can assist you.

Some things to note:
  • OS 32 or 64 Bit
  • CPU
  • PSU
  • Motherboard
  • etc.

No, it will fit into the same slot on the motherboard, will need one PCI-E power connection from the PSU, however the BOOST requires 450w of power compared the 400w your Ti requires at the moment. If you can look at the side of your PSU to find your overall wattage then we can advice if your PSU is suitable.

If you're looking to upgrade, you won't see a large performance increase between the 550ti and the 650ti. Buy the 660 instead, and if you don't have enough for it, buy a 7850.

Also, I like to include this in every thread that involves a change in hardware: You will need to run a special application that comes with windows to ensure that no drivers get left behind after the switch and cause compatibility issues. Follow [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You run a system preparation tool? Why?

It deletes all drivers, including the gpu drivers. Without doing this, issues often come up after installing something new. What's great about it is that nothing gets removed from your hard drive, and everything is the same once you restart and re-install your drivers.

It seems way to drastic to delete every driver on the system instead of uninstalling the drivers from the control panel, registry keys and app data folders.

It's worth the time and effort. How do you plan on deleting drivers for your gpu when it's the source of your video output? It is possible, but sysprep ensures nothing goes wrong.
