First off, I must say that this was *NOT* written by me, nor do I have anything to do with its development. I am simply posting it for you guys to try out.
Android Studio is an Android IDE based on JetBrains' IntelliJ IDEA. It offers many improvements and updates over the ADT plugin for Eclipse, such as:
- Viewing strings as if they were hardcoded
- Viewing your app layout on multiple screen sizes at once
- Better optimization
- Advanced method prediction
- and many more, because IntelliJ has so many more features built in anyways
Here is an introduction and overview of the new Android IDE:
If you have Windows, you must set up the JDK environment variables in order for Android Studio to launch.

Hopefully this new IDE will catch on. I know I was ready for one. Fighting with Eclipse all of the time kinda drove me away from creating apps.
