Avast is the best in my opinion. Other than that, I would go with Microsoft Security Essentials.

I use Avast. As for Malware Bytes, its more of just a malware scanner, a lot of programs are for specific things, like avast and avg etc are going to only get and detect all viruses of course when you have a premium version. I did a full scan with Avast and it detected 15 viruses, then with AVG it said 9 and then again with a premium norton anti virus, it said 3, they were malware, then I did a test with malware bytes and it showed that there was 3 so then it made sense for malware matter but regular virus and website protection avast is pretty good.

AVG is decent, they are quick to get new viruses detected, but overall [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] is by far the best out there.
As for malwarebytes, I know it isn't meant for live scanning (although it does do that) it will literally detect anything. Combo that with Avast or AVG and you're golden.

Moved to PC Support.
MSE's performance has gone downhill and although it's still adequate, there's no real excuse for these low scores.

If AVG is not working for you, OP, I suggest Avast because it's extremely good for a free AV.
I should also add that Malwarebytes is NOT intended to be or replace a full antivirus program like AVG, Avast, Norton, etc.

As r00t said, it's not designed to replace, they designed it to work alongside any Anti-Virus software (because it's not an Anti-Virus program itself) without causing any conflict, personally I use MSE and MBAM, because it's lightweight and gets the job done, it doesn't really matter what you use as long as you're sensible though.

Just get the full version of AVG or find a crack for it. I've tried all different types of virus protections and AVG is my favorite.
