Hi, im going to buy the iMac 27 and i want to upgrade the ram (8gb stock). Because of the iMac is so expensive i wont pay so much for the rams sticks from the Apple site. Therfore i wonder if the Crucial iMac ram is the same performance (or better) as the Apple ram? The Crucial is much cheaper.

Typical Apple always price their products as overly-expensive.
Performance wise Crucial RAM units perform the exact same as the standard iMac RAM units. The only difference being is the price.

What do you need 16GB of memory for? 8GB is more than likely enough because having more memory only improves performance when it is in use. The best upgrade is the one you don't even have to make.

He/She is on a Mac so probably Video Editing/Rendering and GFX... Just a guess.

OP could just as easily be a casual user who thinks that more memory will equate to more speed. I don't want someone to waste money because of an incorrect assumption.
