You can get a 7770 and quad core phenom AMD CPU for under 400, and the rest of the essential parts. I've made up a few builds under 400 with a motherboard, case, psu, hdd, cpu, gpu and os. You can get a decent computer for under 400.

Decent processor with overclocking capability if you changed the mobo and bought a cooler in the future, cheap ram, hard drive can be 1Tb for a little extra, decent GPU and quality PSU.

Cheers for that mate i may just wait for a couple months to gather the money for 700 build which may be a bit more obtainable and higher quality but thanks for the time seems as though my efforts to find a decent pc for that price are down to the fact that there is not really any of them

You are right in the sense that pre-builds aren't great value however much money you drop and when you have a low budget they are pretty unattainable with good spec.

Honestly, i'd recommend building as someone else said on here "its like LEGO for adults".
