No that wont work , cuz Microsofts new update means that all USB mods happening to use a profile needed to mod it will corrupt all profiles that you move into your console/HDD from the USB , although i am not sure if it would corrupt it if you use a transfer cable to transfer it into your hard drive

This has happened to me aswell, i managed to fix though

Attention! Modded Profiles (modded names like mw2)
have been patched and will give you a corrupt profile when you move it back to your Xbox. As to how your main profile got corrupt I dont know.
Any ways, just delete your profile only and not you items (there is a option for this when you go to delete it) and if that still doesn't work, Contact Xbox Live Support and tell them it got corrupt and they will load the latest working copy of your profile into their systems and tell you to go to your memory, press Y and clear your system cache two times, then recover your profile. This will more than likely fix your problem. Hope it helped!
