What do you think actually happened to them?

I believe the common and most popular theory of how a large meteorite/meteor hit the Earth that shielded the Earth with dust which, in turn, blocked out the sun and killed plants and animals.

Post what you think actually happened.

Jesus started a militia called the FLEETO him and his followers then made war with the dinosaurs. Jesus used his finisher move the dust cloud causing all the dinosaurs to die as they all had allergies. Then jesus put the skulls of the dinosaurs underground and headed back to heaven for another couple million years.

Although I agree with the meteor theory, it wasn't actually the cloud of dust that killed off the majority of the dinosaurs.
When the meteor hit, the heat in the atmosphere increased exponentially for a short amount of time, it was like the heat from a nuke being distributed around the entire globe which is why many creatures that could hide underground like mammals or were underwater like reptiles survived and the larger dinosaurs were essentially roasted alive.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. Sorry about the incorrect information. But I'm just curious as to what people think actually happened. Seriously or jokingly, either way I like to hear what people have to say.

I'm not hating, I'd just like to point out the difference between a meteor and a meteorite, since not many people know.

A meteor is a, usually small, body that is usually made of rock, but sometimes can be made of ice, that enters the Earth's atmosphere, but does not hit the ground, as it completely burns up upon entering the Earth's atmosphere. This burning is what causes the streak you see behind it if you have ever witnessed a meteor/ite.

A meteorite is the same thing as a meteor, except they are usually quite large. Also to be a meteorite, at least part of the meteorite must hit the Earth's surface. I.e, it does not all burn up on entry into our atmosphere.

As for asteroids, they are completely different. An asteroid is a, usually small, rocky body that orbits the Sun/any star. Hence our asteroid belt. Asteroids very rarely come into contact with planets/Earth. However sometimes there are asteroids with elliptical orbits that may come close to hitting a planet, as the orbit is irregular, however this is very uncommon.

well, the big dinosaurs were possibly wiped out by a meteor which struck the earth. once it hit it sprayed rocks and ash everywhere, these were molten hot burning straight through the rough skin. the meteor sent shock waves across the earths plates causing earth quakes and tsunami's. the majority of them were actually killed by starvation as all the plants, trees etc. had been burned away.

but some survived... if you didn't know already. birds are evolved prehistoric creatures. so, at least a few must have survived. enough to evolve.

there might have been a large drought that caused so many to die that they were unable to re-populate.

the fact is we don't know. unless we were there.
