Take a look at my above computer specs..

My final goal is to be able to use 2 computer monitors to my desktop. I have done this with a friend's computer but I'm having troubles doing it on my own. I'm by far more of a programmer than a hardware kind of guy so bare with me..

I will try my best to describe to you the back of my computer. The top part of the computer that contains the inputs for sound and such also has inputs for a HDMI cable and a SVGA cable. Then below where there is 4 slots, one of them is filled with my graphics card (check the specs) and there is a HDMI port and a VGA port on there. So if I turn my computer off, plug my regular monitor in via VGA, and then my spare monitor into the SVGA port. So one one monitor is in my graphics card, and one is in my onboard. However on start-up I receive a error and it instructs me to shut off my computer.

I am wondering what I can do. I would prefer not to go through the hassle of messing with another graphics card. If I find a HDMI cable so that I can plug a monitor in via HDMI and via VGA (so that both are in my graphics card, and none on my onboard) would it work then? Is there a adapter or anything you would recommend? And note I'm not looking for a mirrored display like I would receive using a VGA slitter, something where I can interact with both screens separately.

you should go to your manufactures website and ask for support that would be the fastest way to get help

It's a custom built computer.

You need to get an HDMi cable like you stated in the post, The motherboard video outputs no longer work since you have a dedicated card.

I tried to plug in a HDMI cable but it did not fit, so I clearly mistaked the inputs. Anyway I found a picture of the ports for my graphics card. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Could you maybe identify them so I can get a adapter?

you will have to connect them both to your Graphics card and not on to onboard and one to graphics card.

My spare monitor is VGA, should I get a VGA to HDMI, or a VGA to DVI converter? Or does it not matter at all?
