No. I believe you will only get bricked if you fail to update before the first beta expires.

Lets say IF July 24th was the official date that the beta 1 expired and the second beta came out July 10th.

You would have until July 24th to either upgrade your phone to iOS 7 beta 2 or downgrade it back to iOS 6.

I was hesitant to do it at first but I did it to my iPhone 5 and one of my friends did it to his iPhone 4S.
Both worked successfully without any issues! And if you end up not liking it you can downgrade back to iOS 6.

What device are you on? Because iOS 7 is so laggy on the iPhone 4. If you have a later device than that then go for it. It looks SWEET!
