Is your hdmi cable plugged in? You may be using VGA cables?

Make sure you are using an HDMI cable and not the vga that came with the xbox. It should automatically afjust to your TV.

You would need to use HD cables as in a HDMI cable and plug into the xbox to T.V simple as that

An HDMI cable is this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
and a VGA is the standard white, red and yellow cables, plug in the hdmi to the hdmi port on the back of your xbox and into the back of your tv.
