Well The Subject kinda say's it all.
would you be able to infect yourself via system link if your J-tag get's banned? cos if it's never going online, And only system link. it should still work right?

Yes even if it is banned it can still infect your retail console, just make sure both games are on the same title update and both consoles are on the same dashboard and they are connected thought the same router.
