I was thinking of buying some more 1600mhz RAM but it is a different brand from the crucial stuff i have now. Would it be ok to add another 4GB 1600mhz stick into my build or not?

It should be fine yeah, there's probably some exceptions if the memory just won't work well together, and if the motherboard doesn't support it obviously, just make sure that everything in the specification is the same.
