No they patched that a LOOONG time ago.
And I haven't heard of any other methods.

Need 9 Diamonds Or 9 Iron Or 9 Gold

- Craft the 9 ore you want into a block
- Place the block down
- Mine it and place the block down straight away.

May take a few times. Let me know if you need help

It will be placed and say you still have a 2nd block just press X Craft it into the ore again and done 9 each time
