I had an Acer Aspire 5552 laptop for about 3 years now. A few days ago it just stopped working. When I turned it on the power light would light up, the fan would run but the screen would be black. I thought it was just old and worn out. Now here's the weird part. I have a Hp 2000 notebook that is brand new. I got it back in April and used it no more than 10 times. I get on it today and do some updates and I restart it and guess what.. The SAME thing happened. It lights up but the screen is black. I can't believe the same thing happened twice in a few days to two different laptops. Does anyone know what could have caused it?

Hey, I've had this problem before and this is what I did.
1.Make sure the laptop is off
2.Unplug the charger
3.Take the battery out
4.Press the power button and hold it for about 30 seconds
5.Release it and wait about 1 min.
6.Put the battery back in and it should work.

The Acer could be a GPU problem. It happened to me on 2 different laptops. You can do a reflow/reball and the Acer should work. For the HP, I recommend first removing the HDD and see if it boots up. If it doesn't, try removing your CMOS battery to do a reset of the Bios.
