Ok so basicly I have 2 quick questions and hope someone can help me with these..
1. My jtag dash kernal version is at 16203 (latest), however I do not have the avatars etc installed because my jtag doesn't recognize the update for some reason and when I plug the USB drive in, it doesn't prompt me to.. (tried to rename the folder to $SystemUpdate, $$ystemUpdate and even put in a launch.ini setting noupdater to false) Is the avatar update REQUIRED to go online?
2. I know it is possible to change your IP, however since that is alot of hassle (mainly because I am running gaming servers aswell), I was wondering if it might be possible to run a VPN or proxy over your console? This would make things so much easier..
Thanks in advance, and please post even the slightest info on either of these subjects
EDIT: Another issue (related to my 2nd question), I have a modem AND a router, which makes me unable to change the IP.. So I have to use a VPN or such..
EDIT2: I found a video on youtube regarding the 2nd question, does anyone know if this will actually work? [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

To answer your first question just unplug your hard drive from your jtag/rgh and plug it in your retail download the update and then put your hard drive back in your jtag/rgh that's what I did and mine works fine

The Jtag's HDD contains tools like XexMenu and pirated games etc.. Wouldn't this cause some issues if I connect it to my retail console?

no not unless you try to play the game or try to launch xex menu (will be corrupted so it wont launch)

Didn't work, I put in the HDD of my jtag in my retail, logged into a live account and it didn't prompt me to update.

Yeah only the Jtag's HDD was connected
Sorry. I feel like such an idiot. The update did once extract when I had the USB drive inserted and booted into XexMenu, but it only extracted and my avatar was still grey.. Forgot that I actually had to set an avatar first -.-...
