Beginners Guide to Hosting Modded Lobbies

Requirements

1) Either a JTAG or RGH console.
2) An ethernet cable to connect your JTAG/RGH to your router.
3) Xex menu installed to your modded console.
4) A working disk of whichever game you're hosting.
5) A patch/dll file of your choice, make sure it has an infection option.
6) A retail console to go online with.
7) An xbox live account. (If you have 2, use the one you don't care about, in case you get banned.)
8) The latest Title Update of the game you're hosting.

How To Install a Game in XeX Menu

Step 1: Tap "RB" once and you'll be in the root of your HDD. It will look something like this, but with less files: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Step 2: Scroll down and select "Content"
Step 3: Scroll down to games.
Step 4: Tap "Y" and select "Create" name the folder "Modern Warfare 2" or "MW2"
Step 5: Select the new folder.
Step 7: Press "Y" again and select "CopyDVD"
Step 8: This will bring up a warning, put the disk in the tray and close it. Wait exactly 5 seconds and then hit "Confirm". It is critical that you wait 5 seconds, otherwise it might not work.

Ok, that may take 30 - 45 minutes, so let that install, you can begin the next lesson in the mean time.

Alright, now, time for the actual modding part, how to edit the MW2 files to run the mods in game.

How to Edit Game Files to Run Mods

Step 1: Download a patch to use on your modded console, save it to a USB drive, or if you prefer, you can use an HDD transfer cable too move it straight to the root of your hard rive. If your patch didn't come with one, make sure you find a default_mp.xex file to launch it, the original one will not launch the dll file.

Step 2: Once you've got the dll file and the default_mp on a flash drive, plug it into your modded console. Turn on the console and open up Xex Menu, navigate to the flash drive. You can do this by tapping the "LB" button twice.

Step 3: Hover over either of the files, hit the "Y" Button, copy it.

Step 4: Hit right on your Dpad, this should bring up the Hard Drive. Scroll down to "Content" hit it. Scroll down to "Games" select that, then find the MW2 you installed and select it. Once you're in the MW2 folder, tap the "Y" button, paste the file. Repeat this process with both files.

Step 5: Back to your computer, you may or may have not already done this step. Download the proper title update for your game, which in my case, as I mentioned, is TU8 for MW2. There may be multiple files for the title update, I'll explain what you do with them. Simply move them to the root of your flash drive.

Step 6: We're back on the modded console now, boot up xex menu again. Tap the "LB" twice again, and copy the title update in your USB.

Step 7: Hit right on your Dpad, you should be back at the root of your HDD. Select the "Cache" folder, and paste the TU file there.

Step 8: Almost there, we still have a few more files that need to be added, depending on the game your modding. If you're like me, stuck with all these extra files, repeat the same process as the dll file. First, hover over them, hit "Y", copy them, and one by one, move them to the MW2 folder in your HDD. You can navigate the MW2 folder by hitting right on the Dpad, scrolling down to content, games, and then MW2 (Or whatever you named it.) Once you're in that folder, press "Y" and paste the file, remember to add all of them.

Step 9: Ok now you should be set to start hosting! On the back of your modded console, there is an ethernet cable slot, plug an ethernet cable in there, and plug the other end into your router. (This doesn't mean you can log on an xbox live account.)

**Alternative method of above step: If you have an xbox 360 wifi adapter sitting around, you can plug that into your modded console, make sure it's using the same wifi network as your retail console. This will essentially give you the same results as the ethernet cable/router.**

The rest is pretty self-explanatory, the infections will do their thing, and you'll have an XP lobby going. Before starting the match, I highly recommend getting 8 people in the lobby to ensure you'll be host, otherwise the infections will not work.
