Don't use that build... :L

Go for the new gen cpus and if you want to spend 1k on a gpu go for a titian or sli two 670s

He won't need a full atx case

Sandy Bridge-E is the current enthusiast platform. Ivy Bridge-E isn't out yet. The 7990 outperforms a Titan and has 8 free games. The other option worth considering is SLI 770s, not 670s.

The full tower case is a bit unnecessary but a 7990 gets hot. Airflow is key, especially if overclocking. It also allows for EATX future upgrades.

Because we use computers for practically everyday life, and why not spend a good amount of money on a PC you can use for anything and have it last you 5 or so years?

Just because we use them everyday doesn't mean go and spend a load of money on one. I spent $600 on mine and it will last just as long. You don't need to spend anything more than $1000 as long as you take care of your computer. $2400 is outrageous.
