I have a few questions that are very important to the cost of the gaming PC.
If you already have a HDTV for Xbox/PS3 there's normally a PC jack.
This can take a lot of the current cost of the PC. Another thing is I would highly recommend not getting a gaming mouse because honestly, for a first time PC user it's not worth it. It's a lot cheaper to just have a standard keyboard and mouse. It works perfectly fine. If you really want one you can just buy one later. If you can tell me if you already have a HDTV for yourself then look on the back of it and if it has something like this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
then you can use that. Also unlike what the other person said, I honestly don't think it would really be worth having a SSD.
SSDs can really speed up boot times and game loading. Google it
EDIT:
Also nowadays most graphics cards have a HDMI port so a VGA port on the TV will not be needed.
Yes, I know both those things. Game loading and boot up is not vital to true gaming at all though. VGA has less latency than HDMI due to HDTV's automatically shutting off all extra video options which helps greatly in latency. Although it depends on the persons opinion too. If he thinks having his PC boot up faster is worth the extra money then sure. I personally think it's not worth the money at all. I'm not stupid and I have built my own gaming PC, so don't think I wouldn't know.
EDIT: Actually, load times could benefit you depending on the game. For COD, it wouldn't be worth it though IMO.
Who plays CoD on the PC anymore? Not too many I would say and I was on the assumption he wanted faster loading screens and a faster boot up. Like you said it depens on the persons opinion. we can make more out of this if he was replying.......

Well technically it is 4:02 A.M for me, which I'm in eastern time zone. So most likely we would only get a reply tomorrow.
