Right well I've always been an iphone guy with every iphone that's been released so now I wanna get the Apple TV so I'm wondering if I can jailbreak it soon as I purchase it from apple or is there not one for the current firmware it will be on? I'm new to Apple TV

apple tv 1 and 2 can be jailbroken. There is no jailbreak for the apple tv 3 yet, which is the only one that apple sells. You can purchase an apple tv 1 or 2, but you're only gonna get UP TO 720p Quality, and you're gonna pay more for the older ones BECAUSE they are the only ones that can be jailbroken.

I would go with the Apple TV 3, which is what I have. You can use the latest hack which is kinda like a Jailbreak, but instead exploits its own apps to connect to your computer. It's called PlexConnect. >>
